Who will I be next?

So I'm turning 22 as I write this (in 12 days but I might hold onto it until my birthday). There have been so many ups and downs during my 21st year (or 22nd, I don't know there are people who consider it to be an end of the age milestone, instead of the start of being that new age..if that makes sense). I want to change my situation, grab a few extra certifications that would look nice on LinkedIn and live in a faster paced (walkable city) with a creative job that doesn't stress me out.

How do I get there? By picking a word silly!

I've been reading random LinkedIn articles tonight and I stumbled upon a man with a typo, which intrigued me more, because now I'm a little more certain that he wrote it himself instead of AI (you can't see the date of article posts when scrolling through a profile until you click on them, so I also didn't know if this was written before or after the rise of AI Einsteins). Anyway so I click and it's all about picking a word for the new year. Define who you want to become into a single adverb (easiest actionable words but can be others), and then act on it. I will be more "dedicated", he shared. More dedicated in all of the things he works to accomplish and after a year, he will be, with habit and patience.

So I'm picking a word: Attempt.

I create yes, but not as much as I want to or as I should. Sometimes I get scared of the time and execution skills I have (getting more daunted by the edits I would like to make and terrified to live in the failed execution phase of that trying). It's daunting to learn new platforms and softwares (it took me months after I knew what Figma was to gain the courage, make the move, and finally start learning it). It's easy for me to do things I know, talk to people, learn new internet phrases, and operate in the same sphere I always have. But trying new things, new foods, even learning to have a new baseline and learning to become a beginner again is, scary. I am my own harshest critic and I feel that trying new things is scary; but I don't want to be that way forever.

I used to embrace change and leave my comfort zone. I moved from house to house a lot in my adolescence. Moving around used to be all I'd ever known, and then I stopped because I could stop running. I was finally allowed to learn how to comfortable. And comfort is great, but not all of the time. It can stunt progress and keep you stuck in situations longer than you should be. Figurative and literally, I need to start running again.

I think this Fantastic Mr. Fox quote really sums it up, "the views are better above ground...I'm seven non fox years old, my father died at seven and a half, I don't want to live in a hole anymore. And I'm gonna do something about it." Life is better when you try new things. I haven't seen the whole movie, just that clip, so maybe I'll attempt to do that too.

Thank you Tod Meisner for the inspo, and I hope by 2023, you were in fact more dedicated in life!

Also, here's a gif I made, a couple days ago, for my birthday!
